Wow! What a breed! There are so many things that I like about this dog. I personally owned a 13 year old female that was part of our family. Ebony went everywhere with us and loved everything about everyone. She was especially fond of “baby” things. Ellie is one of her pups that we kept, and I couldn’t be more proud that she is like her mama! I think in the past, Cockers have gotten a bad reputation regarding hyperness. I know growing up we used to call them “Shake-n-pee” dogs because they would always be so excitable that they would be uncontrollable. We have tried to watch our breeding stock for this trait, and try to improve their rep for this. As far as companionship, this dog is the tops for me. They aren’t aggressive as a standard and like everyone they meet. They are very intelligent and are easier to house break than many other breeds. They enjoy the water, so don’t let them near water if you plan on keeping dry! To me the Cocker Spaniel is a perfect family dog
